Selection of chassis for specialized vehicles
Selection of chassis for specialized vehicles
The so-called Class II automotive chassis refers to the foundation of the basic type of vehicle. Remove the cargo box.
The so-called three types of car chassis are usually based on the basic model of the car, with the cargo box and cab removed.
Conventional box cars, tank cars, dump trucks, etc. are usually designed to accommodate modifications to the chassis of Class II vehicles.
When selecting a chassis, the following requirements should be met:
(1) Applicability
(2) Reliability
(3) Progressiveness
(4) Defecation
The overall parameters of the vehicle are simply fixed
The overall parameters of the vehicle include two major departments: dimensional parameters and mass parameters.
(1) Dimensional parameters
1. Overall dimensions
The external dimensions refer to the length, width, and height of the entire vehicle, determined by the selected car chassis and equipment, but the maximum size must meet legal requirements. For example, in China's GB 1589-2004 "Dimensions, Axle Load, and Mass Limits for Trail Vehicles", it is clearly stipulated that the height of the vehicle shall not exceed 4 meters; The vehicle width (excluding rearview mirrors) does not exceed 2.5m; Vehicle length: Trucks do not cross 12m, semi trailer trains do not cross 16.5m, and fully trailer trains do not cross 20m. For fully sealed box trucks, the length value will increase by 1m, and the maximum width limit will be 2.55m. But some countries have relaxed certain restrictions, such as the UK and Germany, which already have 4.2m high box cars.
For heavy-duty or other special vehicles that belong to non road transportation vehicles, they are not within the limits specified here.
2. Wheelbase
The wheelbase affects the total length of the vehicle, the minimum turning diameter, longitudinal passing radius or angle, axle load distribution, and mass transfer coefficient, as well as the operational stability and driving smoothness of the vehicle. Compared to ordinary trucks; Dump trucks require a shorter wheelbase, while light foam cargo transport vehicles require a longer wheelbase.
3. Track width
The wheelbase affects the overall width of the vehicle, the lateral passing radius, the width of the turning path, and the lateral stability of the axle. Adapt to the width of the car. For car trains, it is required that the trailer track width is consistent with the tractor track width.
